Of COURSE it's a pit bull farm...

Just what we all need - another APBT breeder with too many dogs, no knowledge of (or at least adherance to) the breed standard, AND they like to put their dogs on those 40 pound chains we all love so much.

Presenting... Mugleston's Pit Bull Farm! Producing beasties like the one seen at right since 1993. I'm not saying the dogs aren't nice in their own right. I'm sure they have good temperaments (right?), but honestly, with nearly all their dogs topping off at over 100 pounds (and the one at right is 142 lbs.!), they are grossly bypassing breed standards to make bigger, "better" bullies.

Their facilities leave a bit to be desired. I would not house an APBT outside during winter, especially in Oklahoma, regardless of their weight. I would never house a bitch outside with a litter of pups, either. But, that being said, I am impressed with the shelter they provided.

Nonetheless, I am not impressed with anyone who claims to have taken prizes in any of the Bully Expos because they are full of Razor's Edge and Gottiline shortwide pits that look nothing near the breed standard. I don't think winning these warrants breeding a dog, either. If you want my approval, compete in a Kennel Club recognized/sponsored breed specific special and take home the blues. Then you can see where conformation, purpose, and temperament shapes the breed, rather than focusing on making massive dogs with little purpose other than to look imposing or impressive. I don't believe that because celebrities buy your dogs, that makes you a high status breeder or elite showman, either. There are many websites where they are obviously over-breeders with no proper breeding ethic or conduct that claim to have sold to celebrities. Well GEE, aren't you speshul?

Overall, this kennel is not that appealing to me and I certainly wouldn't look into it if I were to buy an APBT. There are many much more impressive APBT breeders who don't charge an upwards of 2 grand for a dog (one dog was listed for sale at $7900. I could buy a car with that money.) and will give you the quality you're looking for when choosing a dog.

To be quite honest ... I think the dogs they have are pretty fugly. I had thought you had posted this breeder before, but I looked through your older posts and I think I am wrong :)

hey, you used my idea! i found that looking for something to post, and was really really saddened when i found out they are based in oklahoma....i myself live in stillwater, not too terribly far from them, and to be honest, it scares me the way they represent some of their stud dogs. the description on one in particular was rather bad, in my opinion. it made me wonder how they were supposed to be representing and helping this breed when they were displaying a stud dog as one that 'the world should watch out for'. it made me twitch...not sure i'd really trust him, to be honest.

Not at all within the pit bull standard and in my brief glance through their website, I didn't see anything about health testing. Those huge bull dog fronts make a dog look imposing but actually make it less athletic and nimble. And I'm seeing a lot of splayed feet. Splayed feet look ugly but worse is that they are not good for long term soundness and show arthritic changes early. I strongly suspect there's other bully and/or mastiff breeds in those dogs. On the whole these dogs are built to pose & look fierce but they are too heavy and poorly structured to actually do much. So in a weird way, that's a good thing.

I thought that AKC didn't recognize Pit Bulls. Just Staffordshire Terriers, which are a bit different.

Wow, that site was mesmerizing. Can't... stop... reading... about.. freakishly... large... pitbulls. I am not especially knowledgeable about dog breeding (I wandered over here from Fugly Horse of the Day), but I guess I really had no idea there was such a market for pumped up pitbulls. Do people really pay five grand for a puppy? Yoinks.

The UKC does recognize the Pit Bull and has a standard that is pretty much the same as the AKC American Staffordshire Terriers (Am Staffs) standard.

When the pit bull was being considered for AKC, the parent club wanted to leave the unsavory pit-bull/dog fighting part of the breed behind and thus came up with the American Staffordshire name.

Anyway, the dogs at the "pit bull farm" look nothing like an UKC Pit Bull/AKC Am Staff.

Can anyone give me a good link to what a pit bull should look like? My brother had a couple when I was a kid. They were wonderful dogs-- sweet and obedient.
